Peru :

The nightmare began on August 15th at 6:40 p.m. Until today, the nightmare still continues. Few days to turn a year of the earthquake of 7,9 degrees that whipped to the Peruvian city of Pisco, this resembles more to a field of war than the charming port that was a day. The reconstruction process of the city advances like turtle step and population complaint have not waited. “We have approximately an investment of 91 million dollars to the date, but the process is slow enough”, affirms the major of Pisco, Juan Mendoza Uribe, who adds that “population does not understand that there are approximately 25 thousand fallen houses and other 10 thousand houses to repair”.

The testimonies of misery, death and pain are too many. It would be necessary to add the abuses against them. The collection cases of receipts of light and water, when nowadays these services are almost void in the city, increase the desperation of their inhabitants.

When walking by the streets of this devastated city, the panorama is devastating. Big part of their inhabitants stay in where at some time they were their houses, today empty areas, full of powder and desolation. Small carps replace to their old homes, where they hope that some institution of the state helps them to reconstruct their houses, their city and their life. The police station of Pisco still works in a path and the construction of two banks in downtown , they are for the sight two drops of water in the middle of a desert.

For this August 15th, the civil society has called for a march to accelerate the process of reconstruction of the city. As response, the president of the Republic, Alan Garcia, signed a decree that authorizes the transfer of 20 million dollars destined to the earthquake victims.
